Use the attached application to apply for scholarships from the Abington Heights Student Aid Fund.  All AHSAF applicants must have a 7-semester GPA of 85% or higher.

Important Instructions

You must print the form and submit a completed hard copy to the Guidance Secretary by March 28, 2012.  The form cannot be submitted on-line.  It must be printed.

Some parts of the application will only accept one line of text.  If you need to add more information, you can write it in after printing.

2012 AH STUDENT AID FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

Students are considered for these awards by applying through the Student Aid Fund.   All applicants must have a 7th semester GPA of 85% or higher.You may get your GPA from the Guidance office.

The application for these scholarships will be available online on March 5, 2012.

The SAF reserves the right to select recipients based on financial need as well as criteria.

Interest-free loans are available to seniors at Abington Heights who have a GPA of 85% or higher.

 


Award

Criteria

        

Mildred Mumford Award

A grant to a senior who has contributed to the school community, based on financial need.

National Honor Society Award

A grant to an NHS senior furthering his/her education who has demonstrated good character, leadership, scholarship and service to the school/community.

Abington Woman’s Club Art Scholarship

A scholarship given to a senior fine arts student in good academic standing. Grants will be made on the basis of need and scholastic standing.

Eddie Archabald Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship given to a graduating outstanding student/athlete. Rotated annually between a senior female/male student. (2012-Male)

Robert “Buzzy” Jackson Ingenuity Scholarship

Awarded to a senior who plans on pursuing a career in technology or engineering.

R. Matthew Burne Excellence Award

An award to an outstanding Senior who has demonstrated excellence in scholastic achievements (GPA), a love of the arts (talent, creativity and imagination) and dedication to community showing generosity and community involvement.

SAF Community Service Award

An award given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated significant community service.

SAF Leadership Award

An award given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated significant leadership skills.

SAF Outstanding/All-Around Student Award

An award given to a graduating senior who shows outstanding character, has achieved academic excellence, is active in school and community activities, and exhibits leadership qualities.

Betty Bellantoni Memorial Scholarship

A need-based scholarship given to a graduating senior who demonstrates outstanding character, maintains a high degree of participation in school and community activities and is employed part-time.


Thomas R. Kovall Memorial Scholarship

A need-based scholarship given to a senior who has performed community service and is planning to major in Physics/Chemistry or is planning a major in Secondary Education with a concentration in Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

Rotary Achievement Award

A scholarship given to a student who exhibits leadership potential, integrity, academic achievement to the best of his/her ability, community service and extra-curricular activity in either sports, music or academic avenues. Financial need is not a stated criteria, but may be considered in selecting a student.

Mended Hearts, Inc. Chapter #276, Scholarship in Memory of Shirley & Bill Dunstone

A need-based scholarship given to a senior who has demonstrated community service and is pursuing a degree in a health-related field (nursing, physical/occupational therapy, pre-med, etc.).

North Penn Charitable Foundation Scholarship in Memory of John Schumacher

A scholarship given to a senior who has been active in school and community activities.

AH Class of 1988 Memorial Scholarship

For 2012 one scholarship will be given to honor the memories of alumnae Jeff Pivovarnik and Rob Rothwell. One academic achievement award will be granted to a senior who has a cumulative GPA of 95 or higher and is planning to attend a four-year college.  The applicant must be a member of the National Honor Society, demonstrate excellence in academics and leadership skills, and show participation in school, community and extracurricular activities such as music, arts, sports, club and volunteering. 

South Abington PTA School Service Award

An award given to a senior who spent at least one year at South Abington Elementary School, is majoring in Education, and who has made significant contributions to school service.

Mason Logan Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship given to a senior athlete who is planning to major in Physical Education. Consideration may be given to a major in Nutrition/Culinary Arts or Pre-Med.

Abington Memorial Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 7069 Scholarship

Abington Memorial Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 7069 Scholarship      A need-based scholarship given to a female student who has performed school and community service.

William P. Carlin Sr. Scholarship

A need-based scholarship given to a senior who is pursuing a degree in the field of Education.

Interact Club of Abington Heights Community Service Scholarship

A scholarship given to a senior who has demonstrated significant volunteer work through school and community activities (including senior and Eagle Scout projects). List all volunteer activities on your application.

William “Ken” Rees Memorial Scholarship

A grant given in memory of Ken Rees, an Abington Heights School Board member for 43 years and one of the longest-serving School Directors in PA. This grant will be given to a graduating senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university and major in economics, finance, or business. Candidates should be active in family, school, and community activities. They should demonstrate meaningful community service, an interest in others, and leadership potential.

The Abington Heights Student Aid Fund is a 501 C(3) charitable organization that administers scholarships given by community organizations and institutions,and helps individuals who want to establish memorial or family scholarships.

Eligible Abington Heights High School seniors are encouraged to complete and submit an application for these scholarships.

Interest-free loans may also be available to graduates of the Abington Heights School District in Clarks Summit, PA.
